5-3-2020 A fundraising campaign was started from the Friends of AviAssist symposium in November last year for Friend of AviAssist Cyril Ndegeya. Cyril’s is a professional photojournalist from Rwanda. He came to attend and document the November symposium but on his way to Amsterdam, Cyril’s camera’s were stolen when travelling on the train. A spontaneous fundraising campaign was started on Justgiving to assist Cyril with the purchase of new equipment so he can continue his great work for AviAssist and others as a photojournalist. At the 2020 edition of Aviation Africa in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, AviAssist director Tom Kok was able to hand Cyril a cheque worth over €1,200. No regular funds of Friends of AviAssist were used for that, just its network.

20-11-2019 Friends of AviAssist concluded its second mini-symposium about African aviation safety at KLM’s Flight Operations facility at Schiphol-Oost at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The event brought together current and prospective friends for a number of presentations about aviation safety and an honest exchange on aviation safety. 01-05-18 – Friends of AviAssist organized an inspiring symposion in collaboration with the HVA. Three presentations were given and the winner of the student competition was announced.

05-06-15 – Friends of AviAssist concludes media partnership with for coverage of the Mini-symposium ‘African aviation (safety) work’ on the 24th of June in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. So far, participants from more than 22 Dutch companies have registered for the event, on top of numerous interested individuals and students.
